CertNexus, a global provider of certifications for IT, business, and security professionals, has partnered with the Internet of Things Community (IoT Community) in order to boost the rapidly expanding IoT skills gap.

Both companies have reached an agreement that provides the industry workshops and other training solutions to the Certified Internet of Things Practitioner (CIoTP), the only ANSI/ISO 17204-accredited IoT certification in the world.

As per the agreement, the IoT Community will have members access to CertNexus’ certifications and micro-credential through virtual classes, access to digital books and virtual labs, and sit for CertNexus exams.

Nancy Shemwell, COO of IoT Community said: “Offering CIoTP, the only ANSI/ISO 17204 accredited IoT certification is a key development in the Community’s value chain. Corporations now have access to develop and validate the necessary skills to successfully implement and secure IoT solutions.” Jeff Felice, president of CertNexus said: “Partnering with The IoT Community to offer CertNexus training and certifications helps us to accelerate the value we can bring to IoT professionals and the businesses they represent.”

According to a report from Experis published in April, IoT development is being hindered by companies failing to hire full-time cybersecurity talent. There were 13,214 related jobs advertised in the quarter – representing a 10% year-on-year increase, and 16.6% over the previous quarter. The demand for IoT roles specifically increased by 48.8% for a total of 4,968 roles listed in the fourth quarter of 2018. Salaries for full-time roles grew by 1.5% year-on-year.
